S. Austin Ward

Senior Associate

Austin joined Machado Silvetti in 2019, following a Masters in Architecture and Urban Design degree from the Harvard GSD. He has been a key designer and project leader for the Downtown Cary Park in North Carolina, the Cedar Street Parking Garage (also in Cary, North Carolina), the New Bedford Art Museum and the New Bedford Whaling Museum, and several studies and master plans for U.S. Embassies around the world. Since joining Machado Silvetti, he has also been successfully involved in business development efforts and studio management, helping to orient the office to new achievements in technical capacity, sustainability, and office management. Austin is an Architect’s Architect, with the skill and aptitude to guide projects from concept through construction. We are delighted to promote Austin into a leadership role at Machado Silvetti where he will continue to direct projects of all scales while also contributing to overall studio management and project leadership.

Emily Ashby

Associate

Emily accepted a full-time position with Machado Silvetti in 2019, after graduating from the M.Arch I program at Harvard GSD. Prior to this Emily spent a summer interning with Machado Silvetti during her graduate studies. Emily is an exceptional designer with capacity for complex geometry, material systems, and culturally sensitive work, as exemplified in her critical role in the design of the Downtown Cary Park pavilions. She is also a rigorous project manager as exemplified in her ongoing work for the transformation of the Historic Edwards School in Charleston, MA as the new home for the Boston Public School’s Horace Mann School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Emily has also been integral to our efforts to recruit architectural interns from local schools, has led volunteering efforts in the community, and is a LEED AP BD+C certified professional. It was our pleasure to promote Emily into the role of Associate at Machado Silvetti last year, a role that she has been filling with great aplomb, curiosity, and proven results.

Taylor Halamka

Associate

Taylor joined Machado Silvetti in 2019, after graduating from the M.Arch I program at Harvard GSD. Throughout the past four years Taylor has been a tremendously positive force for design and representation in the office. He has been an integral member of design teams for multiple competitions including the Getty sponsored competition for protective shelters in Neo Paphos, Cyprus and the College of the Desert’s Palm Springs Campus competition. He was involved in the design of the Syracuse University Allyn Innovation Center and Link Hall Upgrades project and is currently the Project Manager for the Medical Office Building in Waltham, MA.  Taylor is involved in the Boston community in many ways, including serving as a poll worker and as an inspector for the past 7 elections in his ward in Boston. We are excited to promote Taylor into the role of Associate at Machado Silvetti where he will continue to be a design and project manager on a range of culturally relevant and architecturally innovative projects.
