A Celebration of Museums and Culture

“The Benton Museum of Art’s distinction is obvious; it is arrayed on three sides of an open plaza, its cast-in-place concrete walls suggesting an abstract classicism while the stained timber elements that form its portico and porch give it a stately and equally classical rhythm.“ -Michael J. Lewis, “The Best Architecture of 2021: Constraints That Set Creativity Free,” The Wall Street Journal

Pomona College’s new Benton Museum of Art publicly celebrated its opening Saturday, November 13th. Designed in collaboration with Gensler LA, the Benton Museum of Art offers a vibrant, contemporary, and highly relevant art program at Pomona College. Underscoring openness and accessibility, the Museum has multiple entrances, outdoor sculpture gardens, community courtyards, and large expansive glazing. The architecture provides unparalleled access to its extensive collections of Western and Native American Art through a unique approach to art study rooms and archival spaces.

“[Machado Silvetti and Fentress Architects] decided that in a party where everyone is shouting, it is best to whisper: He devised a quiet glazed pavilion that is attractively understated, although it has much to brag about (its panes of curved glass, each measuring 25 by 8 feet, are the largest ever manufactured).”

The Denver Art Museum (DAM) celebrated the official public opening of its expanded and reimagined campus on October 24, 2021. Part of an overall campus reunification and building renovation project designed in collaboration with Fentress Architects, the project includes the renovation and expansion of the iconic Gio Ponti-designed Lanny and Sharon Martin Building, and the addition of the new Anna and John J. Sie Welcome Center.
